The U.S. Senate is poised to consider a bill that could keep you from finding out what the politicians are doing in Washington, D.C.

In the Senate, lawmakers are scheduled next week to consider a bill that could strip everyday Americans of their rights to free speech. Some provisions of "Senate 1" bill would limit citizens' ability to express their views to the very officials they sent to office to represent them. S.1 aims to clean up recent lobbying scandals that have plagued the halls of our government. While most of the bill is good, it contains a provision, Section 220, that will severely limit the ability of Americans to stay abreast of the important issues facing our country.

If this horrible new bill passes, communications from Focus Action, known as "grassroots communications," will be tied up in miles of new red tape. These bureaucratic restrictions are unconscionable, and failure to comply could result in $100,000 fines.

It's clear that this is a concerted effort to silence the voice of Americans by making it harder for you to know what's happening. At the same time, Section 220 will create a loophole for labor unions, trade associations and foreign corporations.

Many public informing organizations will be affected, and these organizations, both liberal and conservative, will be required to inform the government of anything they broadcast that might influence the public opinion on legislation. This is a direct opposition of our God-given rights. We, the people of the United States, ARE the government. WE HAVE THE RIGHT to know what our elected officials are doing in Washington and elsewhere. This is an oppressive bill, and it WILL NOT be tolerated in this great democracy! To stop this atrocious bill, we, the people of the United States, must voice our opinions loud and clear against Section 220 of the Senate 1 bill. Again, most of the bill is good, but Section 220 must be not be allowed to pass. The only reason we know of this bill right now is because of "grassroots communications." In the future, if this bill passes, there is the good possibility that we may NEVER be allowed to be informed of this kind of information again. YOU MUST TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION. OUR FUTURE POSTERITY DEPENDS ON YOU.

1. Please call your congressman and both of your senators as soon as possible! To reach your congressman and senators, call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. Let them know, in a firm and unmistakable manner, that Section 220 of the Senate 1 bill is unacceptable, and urge them to oppose the unfair grassroots lobbying provisions (Sec. 220) and ensure that they are removed from S. 1.

Note- This link will provide you will the phone numbers of your congressman and both of your senators should you choose to call them individually:http://vocusgr.vocus.com/GRSPACE2/WebPublish/controller.aspx?SiteName=FOTF&Definition=Home&XSL=Home&SV_Section=Home

ALSO: New scientific research evidence has shown that the killing of human embryos for stem cell research may no longer be necessary. Better stem cells may be obtained from amniotic fluid and the umbilical cord. But, tomorrow, Thursday, January 10, a new bill is proposed to be voted on in the House of Representatives that will expand federal funding of research that requires the killing of human embryos.

Sponsored by Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., H.R. 3 would dramatically increase the number of stem-cell lines eligible for federally funded research grants. In 2001, President Bush approved federal funding for research on only a very limited number of stem-cell lines left over from in-vitro fertilization -- and already scheduled for destruction.

On January the 8th Carrie Gordon Earll, senior analyst for bioethics at Focus on the Family Action, predicted that the amniotic research would be talked about on Capitol Hill over the next three days. "This will cause a ripple preceding the vote on Thursday -- and will put some pressure on some members of the House to take a good hard look at whether destroying human embryos is necessary," she said.

One new congressman, Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., agreed. "There's a lot of interest on both sides of the aisle -- and on both sides of the life issue -- for pursuing other types of stem-cell research, such as adult and cord-blood research, which has been receiving federal funding since 2001," Roskam told CitizenLink. The congressman said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., have decreed that no amendments or changes can be added to the stem-cell bill -- or to any of the bills Democrats hope to pass in the first 100 hours of Congress.

Please contact your U.S. representative and ask him or her to oppose any bill which uses your tax dollars to support research that destroys human embryos.

THIS IS THE UNOFFICIAL STUDY GUIDE FOR THE GOV'T FINAL!

3. Establish Justice,

4. VARIOUS QUESTIONS FROM THE YEAR

Probably T or F questions.
NO SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS! NO ESSAY QUESTIONS! :)

1. UNITARY GOV'T = centralized gov't; single central agency (NOT FEDERAL GOV'T!)

2. EQUALITY OF ALL MEN =
A. Equality of opportunity
B. Equality before the law
C. BUT NOT EQUALITY OF CONDITION FOR ALL PEOPLE

3. DICTATORSHIPS =
A. Totalitarian - Complete Power over All human affairs
B. Authoritarian - Absolute power over people (all dictatorships are Authoritarian but only some are Totalitarian)

4. DIFFERENCES:
A. Anarchy - No Gov't
B. Oligarchy - Small elite group holds power
C. Monarchy - Gov't lead by a hereditary ruler
D. Democracy - Power rests with the People

5. A CONSTITUTION sets out the principals, structures, and processes of their gov'ts.
(Basically says how the gov't works and what powers it has- what it can do.)

6. FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS = Powers of Gov't are divided between central gov't and several local gov'ts. Has DIVISIONS OF POWERS. In U.S., for example, there is the Federal Govt and the State Gov'ts.

7. JOHN LOCKE'S BELIEFS ABOUT WHY PEOPLE FORM GOV'TS = People will give up some freedom to form together for protection. A group of people in an anarchy will agree to protect each other from more powerful warlords. Thus, they give up a little bit of freedom to ensure safety. Otherwise, they are only as safe as they are strong or smart; that is, until someone better than them comes and takes their possessions from them.

8. PROPAGANDA = information, either true or false, intended to persuade people to think or act in a certain way. A one-sided explanation or opinion.

9. DIFFERENCES:
A. PRESIDENTIAL GOV'TS = Executive and Legislative branches of the gov't are separate
B. PARLIAMENTARY GOV'TS = Executive and Legislative branches are combined (consists of the Prime Minister and his Cabinet)

ALSO KNOW THESE THREE THINGS!
1. Capitalism = Free enterprise (market) system (Unites States)
2. Socialism = Wealth should be equally distributed. High Taxes enable many social programs. The money of the rich helps the poor.
3. Communism = A kind of Socialism that comes to power by a "violent and bloody revolution" The Gov't owns everything. A key term is Collectivization- where the gov't takes over local farms. Examples: former USSR and China

Hello, life is good. Well, I'm still alive but I can't post at school anymore because I signed up for Blogger beta and I was unaware at the time that Blogger beta is blocked and Blogger is not. So, I'm screwed I guess. I can get around the school firewall, but to log in to beta I think it's https, and so I have a lot more difficult time sidestepping the secure stuff. Anyway, were starting concert season in band if anybody but me really cares;) Have fun y'all.

Good evening. I'm about ready for bed, but i wanted to do some stuff on my computer first. So, here's an update bout me....In case you were wondering.

I made first chair alto saxophone for district jazz! I'm happy bout that...last year I didn't even make alternate. We send in audition tapes. The performance is in Columbus this year so maybe more of my family will come.

We played a jazz gig Saturday for Columbus Days. Jolly good time. Not really. I was tired and grumpy. Imagine that. I didn't think it went well, but Mrs. Mays said it was the best she's heard in years. So, Good Job Jazz Band!

Um, yeh, anyway I probably sound like a band geek but....well I am. Music's awesome and God has given me some talent to play with. Awesome God.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!! Today is my dad's birthday! Not quite sure how old he is...oh okay I'll post it, he's 44 but he really thought he was 45. Lol. Anyways, HAPPY BIRDTHAY DADDY! (P.S. In the pic, he's the one on the left.)

Hey, update. Monday I was off of work and out of school so I had a lot to do. I cleaned my room, quite terrible it was, and my truck, really terrible, and then I went to Pittsburg to pay a previous instructor some owed money. I got my oil changed on my truck. I didn't set up a haircut appoinment but I need one really bad. Anyway, yesterday I went with the math team to MSSU. We got 79 out of 100 points...not too good but I hope it will be okay. I was team captain, and it was nice because everybody got the same answer to the team question so I didn't have to pick a correct answer and then possibly be wrong. Then I went to work yesterday. Today we had band practice at 8:00. I was late but we ended up waiting on other people and not me. :). I learned that I get to do a really cool part in the field show...I'm dressin up like a pirate. Arg! ;)

01 October 2006

Good day. It's been a lil while since my last post (not very long but still....). Anyways, we had a LOT of people at fifth quarter Friday after the game....it was awesome. Hopefully we'll have even more at the next one. We played an egg game where there were mixed eggs, some were boiled and some were raw. We formed a line and everybody grabbed an egg and smashed it into their forehead. If it was raw then oops yuckky all over ya and thanx for playin. If it was boiled then goody goody u got to go to the back of the line and try again. The last person to not get a raw egg all over them won. My boss was there and she really wanted to see me get raw egged. Well she got what she had comming, call it karma i guess, somebody splattered a raw egg on their head and they hit it so hard that it flew over and landed all down my boss. She was still picking egg out of her belt yesterday. Lol. I love my boss. She's a good Christain woman,...But it was really funny. I ended up winning the game and didn't get egged. :) . Yesterday was awesome, our youth group went to a one day church camp thingy. I was exhausted and Sarah was too, but we had a lot of fun, and God moved mightily and it was great fellowship. I surrendered my life back over to Christ and let go control. I realized that my best isn't good enough; I can't follow Christ on my own because I always go astray. So, I now trust God to keep me inline. I'm a lot happier. Then, today Sarah called me to wake me up and we went to church. Good time. We went to Sonic afterwards. We actually went to Micky Dee's (Don't tell my boss;) ) but we realized neither one of us had any money so we had to go get some and then we just went to sonic. Now I'm @ Sarah's house postin. Have a good day y'all. God loves ya.
